MLA formatting style

 Margins:



1 inch margin on all sides. 


Font




Times New Roman

Regular

Font size- 12 (or 11)



Choose 'none' in the hyphenation box. 






Check with the one inch margin- one inch from the top and one inch from the right side.



Type your last name


Go to insert>>

Page numbers>>

Current position
>>

Now, you will get the page number as well. 



Then double click anywhere on the body of the document.



The entire MLA document is double-spaced. 



The entire document is left aligned in MLA.





Now type in your name, your teacher's name, your course information, date. The entire thing goes into the left alignment. 



The title of the paper. 

Then go to the center alignment. 

Now type the title of the paper.

If the title has two parts then separate the two parts with a colon. 



This part has been italicized because you would also italicize it in the body of the paper. This italicized part is the title of another paper or something. 

Now, you can type your own paragraph. After typing the title, hit 'enter' once and the cursor goes to the next line. Now, make the cursor left aligned. 


Press tab key and begin to indent the paragraphs.

Adjust the margin to half inch.

If you have a quotation longer than four lines then you need to put it in a paragraph of its own. 



Indent the whole paragraph using the indent tool. Look at the indented paragraph at the top.

Reference list



Just plain  Roman text in middle alignment, no italicizing, no boldfacing, no underlining, etc.



For each citation, only the first line is without a hanging indent. Second line, third line onwards, there is a hanging indent.

The bottom triangle is called the hanging indent triangle. Highlight the lines second line onwards and use the bottom triangle in the top ruler to to create a hanging indent. 

Drag the bottom triangle to the right by half an inch.  



Now, start putting the sources. There is nothing but double space between each line of the source and each individual sources. So, you don't have to do anything extra.

The first one is a journal.
