RIvers orgination from the Himalayas are called HImalayan rivers. 

Indus, Gnaga, Brahmaputra

They are perennial rivers. They originate from glaciers.

It originates in Tibet. Hills of Kailash. Mansarovar lake has a glacier in its north called Bhokar Chu glacier. 

It originates and comes towards India. The moment it enters India, it is called Damchok. 

Or, they originate from peninsular India called peninsular rivres. 

Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri, Mahanadi,

Luni, Mahi, Sarawati

They are non perennial rivers. They are fed by the rain. They flood during the monsoons. 



On the basis on drainage 

Some rivers drain into Bay of Bengal

Some rivers drain into Arabian Sea
