India: Mountains and plateaus

Lenght of the Himalayas: 2400 km (Tibetan plateau to Indo Mynamar border, from Indus to Brahmaputra)

Three parallel ranges in the Himalayas: Himadri, Himachal (middle himalayas), Shivalik

Height of the shivalik from the sea level: 1000 to 1200 km above the sea level

Height of the Himachal form the sea level: 4000- 4500 km. Width is 80 km.

Forests are found in Himachal, cool climate, many hot springs and waterfalls in the Himalayas, Hot spring Manikarnika is found in this area. 
Tourist sites in himadri- Shimla, Dalhousie, Nainital, Dharmashala, Mussorie, Darjeeling, Kullu and Manali 
 
Himadri is at a height of 6000 m from the sea level. Highest peak found is more than 8000 metres. Mt. Everest, Mt. K2 (PoK) Kanchenjunga (Sikkim), Nanda Devi, Nanga Parbat(J and K), Namcha Barwa.

Uttarakhand has kumaon himalayas. The western part has garhwal himalayas. 

Govind Ballabh Pant was the first CM of UP. The first agriculture university was formed in India called Pant Nagar after him. 

West of Himalayas are in Kashmir. The eastern part lay in INdo Myanmar border (The Himalayas are called Purvanchal in this area). 
Purvanchal has Patkoi Bom, Garo-Khasi-Jaintia, and Lusai hills. 
Patkoi bom is in Arunachal and Nagaland border. 
Garo Khasi Jaintia in  Megahalaya
Lusai hills are also called Mizoram hills. 

Himalayas are foremd with the compression force and they are the old fold mountains. Eurasian plate and Indo-Australian plate came together to compress with each other. Himalayas were formed at the place of Tethys sea. 

Whan the plates crash, there are earthquakes. This also forms valleys. The compression forces are still operating to increase the sizes of Himalayas. 

The himalayas are also classified from west to east. 

Indus to Satlej - Punjab or Kashmir HImalaya
Satlej to Kali- Kumaon Himalaya (Western part is Garhwal Himalaya)
Kali to TIsta- Nepal Himalaya
Tista to Brahmaputra- Assam HImalaya
