Whatsapp-A product review
WHATSAPP: A PRODUCT REVIEW
Now who hasn't used whatsapp? I am sure everyone of us with an internet connection has done so. Now since internet connected people are often mobile only and use personal computers not until absolutely necessary, we can always say that everyone has access to whatsapp if they have access to internet. Finally this is the scenario. Whatsapp is an instant messaging app and if you go to Google Playstore then you will find several reviews which may be positive or negative and although I do not mean to copy them, they are worth being looked at. Especially if you are new to this field or a kid going to use your own smartphone for the first time and wondering which instant messaging apps to download then you have landed at the right place.
Now why whatsapp when you also have twitter, facebook and instagram to name a few instant messaging apps. I believe that the simplicity of whatsapp is what it makes whatsapp so powerful. It is a natural and organic way to keep you away from undesirable spamming. Although there are certain features which always help you to keep your profile updated with your pictures and stuff but when it comes to whatsapp compared to other websites, it is truly powerful. While other instant messaging apps may ask you to fill in your details even like which books you want to read or what high school you have attended, there is just one line which you can keep in whatsapp. It could be something like "busy" or "available" though you may put some quotes there as well but this is what it means you are not searchable by anyone and everyone but only by those with whom you have made your contact or want to keep in your contact list. It is like maintaining a personal book of contact numbers, you call a person if you have their number and not if you don't. The only difference is that whatsapp lets you have a variety of options to communicate with a person, be it text or image or video or whatsapp calls which are so like the normal phone calls. The best part of whatsapp remains instant messaging though and by this I mean text messaging. It is simple and you may fill it with emojis if you like and the recipient may open and view it at leisure. So many people's profiles even show "Don't call, Whatsapp only". This holds true especially for those who often keep busy. So you may continue with your university and part time jobs and be busy while you open the messages and keep contacting others at your own free time. If there is somebody who spams a lot but they are important to you and you cannot say "no" to these spams then you also have the option to not view their message or just open them at any free time so that they are not hurt either.
There is a cool way which are the tick marks. If you have only one tick mark then it means you have sent the message from your end and there is nothing more that you could do about it and if you see two tick marks then it means your message has successfully reached the recipient and finally if you see two blue tick marks then this means that the recipient has received your message and also viewed it. This way you know which people love to connect with you and which are may be a bit too busy to do so.
The next best thing about whatsapp is the profile picture. Although it shows in every instant messaging app but it shows the most prominently in whatsapp. This means a lot. If you open the messages of some person then you find that the screen is not full of so many flashy updates of messages and videos of the other people but rather just yours and the other person's communications show and nothing more. As I said, it is just like a phone call only you can also hear or rather see your past communications. It maintains a bond of warmth with those people whom you truly care for but cannot meet often in person.
And finally comes the whatsapp search bar. You can type practically anything here and no matter where in chat that word was, whatsapp will open it for you. So you may loose track of past conversations but whatsapp won't.
Yes, I love to use whatsapp a lot, family groups, friends groups and one to one communications, all purposes, personal and professional things have reached a new level with whatsapp and this shows us how technology has simplified our lives and brought us closer.
