What to do after engineering college in India?

ENGINEERING OVER? NOW WHAT TO DO?

Technical colleges of the kind providing B.E and B.Tech courses had started to blossom in India some twenty years back and have been mushrooming since the last decade. The popularity might have faded a bit but there are so many young talents out of the engineering colleges who often wonder what their next step should be. Added to it is the financial constraint of the education loan and the falling finances of the family may be a concern as well. The candidates run from pillar to post trying to get a job at any company but the packages might be frustrating. Or the interviews might be futile as well. So, what should be done? Give in to frustration or is there a way out of it?

Sure there is not one but there are many ways out of it. You have completed your B.Tech so congratulate yourself. You are a graduate and now you might pick up any jobs that require graduation as the minimum qualification. The doors of employments are open in the government sector jobs like banks, railways, etc. Try to make that IAS dream come true if you like but to study without working is no longer an option. You may work at your convenient time and study at your convenient time as well.

Yes, I am talking about freelancing from your laptop. If you have writing skills and with your science and tech background you could easily write technical articles. You understand the technical underpinnings of highly technical issues which a lay person may not. Communicate it to them.

Or write product reviews of various softwares and services available. You will be at an advantageous position for you know why certain gaming sites crash and others are up and running.

You can teach coding or math to kids from the comfort of your home. The pandemic has made offline education a thing of the past.

Start your own blog and youtube channnel where you tell other people more about your subject. There are many students in ITI colleges who might need your guidance.

Or start giving home tuitions. This is the old and the best way to establish yourself in your society. Mathematics and science have always been and will always be nightmares to kids. You can make your mark and extend your support.

Donot want to continue your science career? Feel bored and think science is not really your stuff. Go to the online learning sites like coursera or udemy, there are many free courses available on youtube as well which will give you a fair idea of whether the new chosen field is for you or not. Choose a creative career, animation, writing or learn and new foreign language like French. It will not take four years or even one year to expert them, apply for internships, even online internships are in vogue and launch your career.

All the best for your future.
