 THE CATERER

I am a caterer and I am well known. I have huge utensils which you will not have at home. My job is to work all day looking after cooks and waiters who will serve you hot and fresh food with respect. I am indispensable when it comes to parties and functions. Marriage ceremony to birthday party to funeral which happen at every home, I am indispensable for I must cook for them. Common menu is naan, fried rice, paneer and chicken and fish, I know I must stock potatoes and onions and masala for I need them everyday. 

It is a function and you have invited your friends and family from a distance who have bothered to come and eat but more important is the reunion so the food must be delicious and fit for the occasion. I have visited various homes where cloth pandals are made elaborately with seating arrangements for guests and behind it we cook all sweaty and diligent so that you may get food with a taste. I have visited large hotels and marriage halls where you get everything prepared, and after meeting you all sit to eat and I am no less than a host for the night. It must have the menu card with napkins and starters and then comes the naan with a special chutney. Then comes the rice fried in ghee and the meat should be tender and spicy. Finally comes the sweet and the ice cream. You must have a lovely experience eating together after a long long time and rejoicing an occasion. 

No matter how many parties I attend there is one thing in common that I find, the aged aunties sparkling and blessing everyone, the uncles together laughing at some jokes wearing suites that all look same, the flirting youngsters in the flowers of youth and the kids running around in beautiful suits. The servants sitting on the floor or in a corner not mixing and the caterer cooking away for the entire gathering.
